The Cornerstone provides an oppottunity for people interested in helping to support the church and community. Basically there are three main kind of volunteers - 1. sorters and pricers, 2. store workers, 3. trash, recycling, and goodwill trnasportation:
Sorters: Volunteers sort, clean, prepare, and price items which have been donated. Among this is toy testing & cleaning, ironing & hanging clothes, electronics testing, etc... Sorting times are weekly on Monday and Wednesday mornings from 9:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. or Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
Store Workers: The thrift center is manned by church friends and members who are trained to use the cash register. The hours are broken down into shifts: Tuesday to Friday there is a morning shift (11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.) and an afternoon shift (1:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.). On Saturday there is one shift from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
Trash/Recyclig/Goodwill transportation: The sorting from items donated results in areas of additional distribution and there is always a need for these items to be taken from the Cornerstone.
Community Service Credit: By volunteering at the Cornerstone, high school students are able to earn community servicer credit. Scouts of any age looking to provide community service are encourage to volunteer to test and clean toys.
