"Speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs.
Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord..."
(Ephesians 5:19-20)
Music inspires the soul and gives musicians an opportunity to offer their talents. As Martin Luther said, "music is... a gift of God... one forgets all anger... pride, and other vices."
Traditionally, an organist has been an essential aspect to the Sunday worship service experience. In today's world the church organist is becoming harder and harder to find. The congregation of Newtown Congregational Church feels extremely fortuante to receive the talents of our organist on Sunday mornings! He not only focuses our minds in order to sing praises to our Lord, but also helps those of us who are "non-singers" to understand how to sing the hymns we are not familiar with. And, his talent at the piano during his off-the-cuff "tinkering" while the offering plates are being passed in the worship service mesmerizes all in attendance!
The Adult Choir welcomes and encourages everyone who enjoys singing! Individuals of any age may join the choir at any time - on a regular basis or just occasionally, whatever works best for your schedule.
Rehearsals:
Thursdays 8:00PM until 9:00PM in the Music Room.
Sundays 9:00AM until 9:50AM in the Music Room and Sanctuary.
We love special musical offerings! If you have a musical talent and would like to sing a solo piece or with a small group during a Sunday morning worship service, please contact the NCC office!
Our most recent offering was a brass quintet during our 8PM Christmas Eve service, which adds to the spirit of this special evening.
