Youth in 9th Grade are requested to attend the year-long confirmation process at Newtown Congregational Church. This process involves learning about the history, symbols, and importance of the Christian faith; learning about the United Church of Christ; and learning about the history and current life of this church.
The initial parent & youth informational meeting is usually early October, after which the Confirmands meet with the pastor on a weekly basis until late May. There are also once a month meetings for the youth with an assigned adult mentor.
In May the youth are expected to write a personal statement of faith and review it with their pastor, mentors, and deacons. Their statement of faith will not be judged, it is merely an exercise for the youth to discover their true beliefs at this time in their lives.
There are two options to register your youth for the Confirmation Program:
-You can fill in the online form below, which is emailed directly to the church office.
-You can print out the registration form at the bottom of this page, fill it out, and bring/mail it to the church office.
